Residents of Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State on Monday lauded Oba Micah and Olori Moronke Ajijo Foundation for donating medical equipment and drugs to the State General Hospital, Igbokoda,
The residents in separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) described the gesture as a major boost to healthcare delivery in the riverine community.
Oba Micha and Olori Moronke Ajijo Foundation early in the year donated a multi-million Naira 4D Ultrasound Doppler machine and drugs to the State General Hospital in Igbokoda.
The residents said that the equipment had significantly improved diagnostic services, particularly for pregnant women, cardiac patients, and others requiring detailed imaging.
The residents also commended the Foundation for the sustained philanthropic efforts, urging other well-meaning individuals and organisations to emulate the Foundation in supporting public institutions.
Dr Sola Ogayemi, a Senior Medical Officer at the State General Hospital, Igbokoda, expressed profound appreciation to the Foundation for the generous donation.
Ogayemi described the equipment as a high-tech diagnostic tool which has provided real-time imaging and detailed assessment of blood flow and organ function.
According to him, the machine has enhanced the hospital’s capacity greatly to manage high-risk pregnancies, detect congenital abnormalities early, and monitor cardiovascular conditions.
“The presence of these equipment have helped reduce maternal and infant mortality by enabling timely medical interventions,” Ogayemi said.
He, further explained that prior to the donation, patients who required advanced ultrasound scans had to travel long distances to access such services, often at significant financial cost.
“With the installation of the new machine, residents now access quality diagnostic services within their community,” he said.
Also, Dr Oluwalominu Ayeilaje, the Director of Basic Primary Health Care Centre, commended the Foundation for its unwavering commitment to improving healthcare delivery in the area.
“The generous donation was a significant intervention that have strengthen our diagnostic capacity and enhance the quality of care available to our people.
“The Oba Micah and Olori Moronke Ajijo Foundation has once again demonstrated genuine concern for the wellbeing of residents, and we sincerely appreciate this laudable support to our health sector,” he said.
Also, Mrs Gift Victoria-Omosaye, a beneficiary of the medical equipment, noted that the riverine terrain of Ilaje often makes access to urban medical centres difficult.
She stressed that the new equipment would save lives and reduce burden on families.
“The donation of the advanced 4D ultrasound Doppler machine demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services in underserved communities,” she added.
NAN recalled that the Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), had on Jan. 10, organised a medical outreach in Igbokoda, where hundreds of residents benefited from free consultations, drugs, and minor medical procedures. (NAN)
