Popular gospel singer, “Omije Oju Mi” died at 46

The family of popular Nigerian gospel singer and evangelist, Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye, widely known as Omije Ojumi, has confirmed her passing at the age of 46.

The announcement was made in a statement released by her colleague in the gospel music industry, Alayo Melody, and signed by a family representative.

According to the statement, Omije Oju mi died on Monday, Jan. 12, at a Lagos State hospital after a brief illness. She was 46 years old.

“With great sadness, we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye, OMIJE OJU MI, who passed away on Jan. 12, at a Lagos hospital, Nigeria.

May God grant her eternal rest,” the statement read. It was signed by Olawale Akinnaanu on behalf of the family.

The news of her death has plunged the Nigerian gospel music community into mourning, as Omije Ojumi was widely regarded as a devoted worshipper known for her spiritually intense songs and evangelical fervour.

Many gospel artists, church leaders, and fans have taken to social media to express their grief and pay tribute to her life and ministry.
