President Bola Tinubu has introduced new measures aimed at reducing the cost of governance by limiting the number of official vehicles and security personnel assigned to government officials.
In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Ministers, Ministers of State, and Heads of Federal Government Agencies are restricted to a maximum of three vehicles in their convoys.
No additional vehicles will be assigned for their movement.
The directive is part of a broader strategy to curb government expenditure. Earlier this year, President Tinubu reduced the number of officials accompanying him on foreign and local trips.
The new measures extend to the security details of these officials, limiting them to five personnel—four police officers and one DSS officer.
The President has also directed the National Security Adviser to work with relevant agencies to implement further reductions in security deployments across the board.
These changes are to take immediate effect, signaling the urgency of addressing excessive government spending.
