Just In: Tinubu swears-in Kekere-Ekun as Chief Justice of Nigeria

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has officially taken the oath of office as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the State House in Abuja.

The oath-taking ceremony took place at approximately 11:38 am.

Kekere-Ekun will serve in an acting capacity until her appointment is confirmed by the Senate.

She succeeded Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who retired on Thursday, upon attaining the mandatory retirement age of 70.

Justice Kekere-Ekun is notably the second woman to hold this esteemed position after the first female CJN, Justice Aloma Mariam Mukhtar (GCON) who was sworn-in in July 2012 to November 2014.
