The Court of Appeal siting in Akure, Ondo State on Friday set aside the judgment of the state High Court that sentenced Alfa Babatunde, the founder of the Sotitobire Praising Chape to life imprisonment.
The High court had sentenced the Prophet to life imprisonment over the disappearance of one year-old boy, Gold Kolawole in his church in 2019.
Babatunde had approached the Appeal Court to nullify his life imprisonment sentence conviction by the High Court.
The Appeal Court ruled that the circumstantial evidence the high court based its judgement was not enough to convict the prophet.
The prophet was therefore discharged and acquitted of all charges and sentence against him
