The Akure City Football Club in its quest to boost performance of the club and improve their proficiency, has unveiled a renowned sports journalist, Michael Akintunde as its Sport Director.
Akure City FC board led by its Chairman, Kingsley Osai while performing the unveiling at the Ondo State Sports Complex on Wednesday in Akure, expressed optimism that the new Sports Director would bring his wealth of experience to bear at the club as a sports journalist who understands the nitty gritty of the round leather game.
Osai added that the club have always strive hard to give the best to their fans both within and outside the state.
“For us to move forward, we feel Akintunde is the best man to occupy the position of the sports director,” Osai said.
The Executive Director of the club, Banjo Adepoju added that it is pertinent for the club to have the Sports Director which he said would serve as catalyst for great thing in the club.
He said, the sports director woukd also speed up the reaction time between two management functions, he will also be responsible for the club’s overall philosophy begining with the youth team all the way up to the first team.
He will also discuss the style of play with the team’s coaches and he will be representing the club both within and outside the state.
He said the major target of the club ahead of the new season is to play in the Nigeria National League (NNL).
Akintunde started his sports journalism career in 2003 and was a sports broadcaster on Adaba 88.9FM before his appointment.
