Woman allegedly stole five month-old baby, sells to couple.

Police operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended a woman identified as Chinyere Okechukwu for allegedly stealing five month-old baby from Anambra State, and seold the child for N900,000 to a couple in Lagos.

It was gathered that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Hakeem Odumosu, made the disclosure in a statement.

Odumosu revealed that during preliminary investigation, Detectives found out that the suspect run a child trafficking business.

He said that the suspect took the mother of the child to Lagos state, where she sold the child to a couple named Happiness and Paul Ibebuilo.

Odumosu said, “One Onyechukwu Okafor, reported to the Police at Satellite division that her 5 months old son, Chimuanya Okafor, was forcefully taken away by one Chinyere Okechukwu, of No 24, Muyiwa Opalyeye Street, Surulere.”

“She said that Mrs. Okechukwu sold her son for N900,000 to one Happiness Ibebuilo, of Iyana Oba Lagos.”

“Upon the report, Police swung into action and moved to the house of one Ibebuilo Paul, in whose custody the stolen child was recovered. The suspects were eventually arrested by the Police.”

He said that the case will be transferred to the Gender Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation and prosecution.
