President Bola Tinubu has praised Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amb. Jimoh Ibrahim, after he presented the proposed $14 billion UN budget for 2027 to the President at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Tinubu expressed his pride in the ambassador during the meeting on Sunday, Oct. 18, saying, “I am proud of you.”
The presentation was described as a historic milestone, reportedly marking the first time in Nigeria’s 66 years of membership of the UN that the country’s representative had presented the organisation’s proposed budget appropriations to a Nigerian president.
Ibrahim expressed optimism that Nigeria’s role in the UN’s budgetary and administrative processes would translate into positive outcomes for the country.
He said the United Nations would make positive impacts in Nigeria, raising expectations that the country’s engagement with the global body would deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians.
The proposed 2027 budget presentation highlights Nigeria’s involvement in the UN’s administrative and financial processes as the country seeks to strengthen its engagement with the international organisation.
