Ondo Govt. releases funds for implementation of FG-Unions agreement – OAUSTECH VC

Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, Vice-Chancellor, Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, has confirmed the release of funds by the state government for the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government/Unions agreement.

Ologunorisa announced the release of the funds in a statement on Friday in Okitipupa.

He said that the funds covered the payment of the arrears and consequential adjustments arising from the 2025 FG agreement with all the unions in the institution.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the unions include Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU); Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU); Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU); and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

The vice chancellor noted that Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa had demonstrated uncommon commitment to the welfare of workers by promptly releasing the funds to effect the payment despite the prevailing economic challenges.

He assured that the university management would ensure the immediate disbursement of the funds to all beneficiaries, calling on staff to reciprocate the government gesture with greater dedication and productivity.

“On behalf of the management, Senate and Congregation of OAUSTECH, I wish to express our sincere gratitude to Aiyedatiwa, for releasing funds for the implementation of the 2025 Federal Government agreement with ASUU, NASU, SSANU and NAAT.

“This gesture is a clear testimony to Mr Governor’s commitment to industrial harmony, staff welfare and the development of tertiary education in Ondo State,” Ologunorisa said.

Meanwhile, leaders of the four unions in the institution, who spoke with NAN, commended the state government and the university management over development.

The leaders are Dr Oluwatoyin Ogunbamike, ASUU Chairman; Mr Kunle Akinwonmi, NASU Chairman; Mr Bobola Bamigbola, NAAT Chairman; and Mr Ajayi Agboola, SSANU Secretary

They appreciated the governor, saying that the implementation of the FG-Union agreement and disbursement of funds, showed that the present administration listened to their plights.

They said the gesture would enhance their teaching, research and the discharge of their duties accordingly.

NAN reports that all the unions, except ASUU, had on Sept. 28, suspended their four-week old industrial action following an agreement reached with the state government. (NAN)
