Workers of the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, resumed duties on Tuesday following the suspension of their four-week old industrial action.
The workers include members of the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU).
The resumption was made known in a communique jointly signed by Mr Bobola Bamigbola, Mr Olanrewaju Orisamika and Mr Kunle Akinwonmi, Chairmen of NAAT, SSANU and NASU respectively.
The communique said that the workers had suspended their industrial action on Monday and all members have resumed at their duty posts on Tuesday as directed by the various unions.
The workers also said that the decision to suspend the strike followed the gesture of Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa to approve and pay the Federal Government/Union agreement including the backlog.
“We, however, pledge our continued dedication, loyalty and cooperation towards the advancement of OAUSTECH and Ondo State in general,” they stated.
Meanwhile, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), OAUSTECH branch, said it has not suspended its ongoing strike.
Dr Oluwatoyin Ogunbamike, the branch chairman, said that the union was still discussing on “grey areas” with the university management.
“The strike has not been suspended. We’re still holding meeting with the institution’s management over other issues,” Ogunbamike said. (NAN)
