Former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, popularly known as Ibro, has died in the United Kingdom at the age of 77.
Idris reportedly died on Sunday, Sept. 20,, with reports of his death emerging from sources close to the former governor. Multiple Nigerian media reports have confirmed the development.
The late politician served as Governor of Kogi State for two terms, first from 2003 to 2008 and subsequently from 2008 to 2012, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He succeeded Abubakar Audu and was later succeeded by his brother-in-law, Captain Idris Wada, in January 2012.
Idris remained an influential figure in Kogi politics after leaving office and was widely regarded as one of the prominent political figures in the state.
