The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic (RUGIPO) Owo, chapter of the National Union of Ikale Students (NUIKAS) has conferred an Award of Excellence on Distinguished Senator (Prof) Dayo Francis Faduyile OON.
The award presentation took place on Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Adekunle Ajasin Auditorium, RUGIPO, being part of a NUIKAS-organised annual Programme Tagged ‘Pupuru Day’ with the theme “How to Embrace Culture Through Students Unionism.”
According to the award citation, the honour recognised Prof. Faduyile’s “outstanding leadership, inspiring service, and commitment to development of Ikale Students and Youth in Ikale Land.”
The award according to the union was in recognition of Ondo South Senator’s leadership excellence and youth advocacy.
According to the union, Faduyile has continued to sustain commitment to the welfare and development of Ikale students and youths and his leadership style is enviable.
Faduyile was represented by Dr. Akinyemi Akintan, who accepted the award on his behalf.
Speaking at the event, Akintan commended the leadership of NUIKAS and assured members of the students community of the continued support of Faduyile.
He charged the students to shun cultism, exam malpractice, other social vices and show commitment to their academics, the primary objective of their stay on campus.
The event which was hosted by the leadership of NUIKAS led by Dist. Sen. Segun Akintunde (ASAS), Deputy Senate President of RUGIPOSU and NUIKAS President for the RUGIPO Chapter, who welcomed students, academics, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to the gathering.
In his remarks, Akintunde noted that Faduyile has consistently kept his doors open to student organisations, describing him as always accessible and supportive.
He further lauded Faduyile for what he described as excellent service delivered within a short time in office as senator.
The recognition comes on the heels of Faduyile’s rising political profile, following his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and his subsequent victory in the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election; which has positioned him at the centre of political leadership in the district.
