The Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, to 75 years imprisonment over the misappropriation of public funds amounting to about N33.8 billion.
The conviction followed his prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of money laundering and conspiracy linked to funds earmarked for the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.
The anti-graft agency had arraigned the former minister before the court on charges bordering on diversion of public funds and financial misconduct.
The judgment marks a significant development in the case after the court had earlier dismissed Mamman’s no-case submission and ordered him to enter his defence.
Further details surrounding the ruling were still being awaited as of the time of filing this report
