The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has approved the distribution of Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) to members of the State Executive Council in a move aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and strengthening service delivery across ministries and agencies.
The development was made public on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Strategy, Comrade Gani Mohammed, through a post on his official Facebook page.
Mohammed, who confirmed the distribution, expressed gratitude to the governor for what he described as a thoughtful intervention to support the smooth execution of official responsibilities.
According to him, the provision of the vehicles would significantly improve mobility, coordination, and overall effectiveness in governance.
“Thank you, Mr. Governor. This will increase efficiency in the state,” he wrote, while also extending congratulations to fellow cabinet members who benefitted from the gesture.
The distribution of the SUVs is believed to be part of broader efforts by the Aiyedatiwa administration to equip top government functionaries with the necessary tools required to function optimally, particularly in a state where official duties often require frequent travel across different local government areas.
Sources within the government indicated that the vehicles would aid commissioners and special advisers in carrying out field inspections, monitoring ongoing projects, and responding promptly to administrative demands within their respective portfolios.
Observers note that mobility remains a critical factor in governance, especially in states with widespread rural communities where accessibility can pose a challenge.
By providing official vehicles, the government aims to reduce logistical constraints that may hinder timely decision-making and policy implementation.
The state government said that empowering cabinet members with adequate resources is essential for effective governance and improved public service delivery.
The Aiyedatiwa administration has repeatedly emphasized its commitment to driving development through strategic initiatives and institutional support, with the latest development reflecting its approach to strengthening the operational capacity of government officials.
As the administration continues to implement its policies, the impact of such measures on governance outcomes and service delivery will likely remain a subject of public interest and scrutiny.
