UK Visit: History ll be kind to Tinubu – Jimoh Ibrahim

Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his recent visit to the United Kingdom, describing the trip as both timely and strategic.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the senator representing Ondo South noted that the visit came at a period of shifting global alliances, stressing the need for Nigeria to remain actively engaged on the international stage.

He said Tinubu’s meeting with Charles III underscored the enduring historical ties between Nigeria and the UK, adding that it would deepen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment and security.

According to Ibrahim, the President’s diplomatic approach reflects a deliberate effort to balance longstanding alliances with emerging global priorities.

“President Tinubu has demonstrated that Nigeria can engage effectively across geopolitical divides, leveraging historical alliances while advancing modern national priorities.

“His actions are precise, timely, and strategically sound. Without doubt, history will be kind to him,” he said.

Ibrahim further noted that Nigeria’s foreign policy direction aligns with the principles of the United Nations, particularly in promoting peace, cooperation and sustainable development.

He added that strengthened engagement with key partners such as the United Kingdom reinforces Nigeria’s position as a stabilising force in Africa and a credible voice within the global community.

Sen. Jimoh emphasised that the visit was not merely ceremonial but a calculated move aimed at enhancing Nigeria’s international standing and advancing its diplomatic objectives.
