As candidates across the country prepare for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations, a new private institution in Ondo State is positioning itself as an emerging destination for quality higher education.
The University of Fortune, located at Km 1, Omotoso Road, Igbotako, Ondo State, has formally received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUX) to commence academic activities with an initial intake of 2,000 students.
Situated in the serene Atlantic coastal community of Igbotako, the institution presents a campus designed to balance academic engagement with social development. The physical infrastructure reflects a blend of modern facilities and a natural environment aimed at supporting focused learning.
According to the management, teaching and learning are structured to take place in an engaging academic atmosphere, supported by 20 AI compliant classrooms. Residential facilities for both staff and students have also been developed to provide comfort within the university community.
Affordability appears central to the institution’s entry strategy. The University of Fortune states that its tuition fees rank among the lowest within Nigeria’s contemporary private university landscape. In addition, scholarship opportunities have been made available to support qualified and deserving students.
Academic programmes currently span four faculties. The Faculty of Science and Computing offers Information and Communication Technology, Computer Science, and Cyber Security. The Faculty of Law offers Law. The Faculty of Basic Medical and Allied Health Sciences includes Public Health, Nursing Science, and Radiology. Meanwhile, the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences covers Accounting, Finance, Economics, International Relations, Criminology and Security Studies, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Project Management, and Intelligence and Security Studies.
The university also indicates an academic collaboration with the University of London, providing students with the opportunity to graduate with two degrees, subject to programme requirements.
Beyond its immediate academic offerings, the institution projects a long term vision of evolving into a vibrant university town, drawing parallels with established academic communities in the United Kingdom.
With admissions for its foundation cohort underway, the University of Fortune says it is committed to delivering education anchored on its guiding philosophy: Destiny Powered by Knowledge.
