President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated winners of Saturday’s elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano and Rivers States.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted elections across the six area councils of the FCT.
The commission also held by-elections in Ahoada East II and Khana II state constituencies in Rivers State, as well as Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies in Kano State.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President urged the victors to serve with humility, patriotism, and dedication.
He described the mandate given to them by the people as a sacred trust that must not be taken lightly.
Tinubu also commended the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, for what he called remarkable achievements in the territory.
He said the strides recorded in the FCT translated into political gains for the governing All Progressives Congress (APC).
He also congratulated the national leadership of the APC, as well as the party’s structures in Kano and Rivers States, for the victories recorded at the polls.
The President praised INEC, security agencies, and voters for ensuring a peaceful and successful exercise.
He noted that the calm atmosphere strengthened public confidence in the electoral process.
Tinubu further applauded the courage and discipline shown by all contestants. He said democracy thrives on participation and healthy competition.
According to him, the successful conduct of the elections reinforces Nigeria’s democratic culture and institutions.
He, however, called on INEC to sustain and improve its efforts in delivering even more credible and exemplary electoral processes in the future.
