Suspected gunmen have brutally murdered Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamọ, in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Akure North LGA, Hon. Johnson Ogunbolude, who confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation, said that the assailants stormed the monarch’s palace on Wednesday evening and was hit on the head.
According to family source, the gunmen reportedly six in their numbers planned abduction attempt which was resisted by the monarch, leading to a violent attack.
Sources disclosed that the gunmen initially shot at the monarch several times, but when the bullets failed to penetrate his body, they reportedly struck him on the head with a weapon, resulting to his death.
The monarch’s wife, who also confirmed the incident, said the attackers were speaking Hausa and reportedly gained access to the community through the Ita‑Ogbolu axis.
The Divisional Police Officer of the area, supported by command tactical teams, mobilised officers in collaboration with local security outfits, including Atuluse Security, local hunters and Amotekun Corps operatives, to comb adjoining bushes and surrounding areas in an effort to apprehend the attackers.
The police said efforts were ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects, adding that monitoring and surveillance had been intensified in the area to protect residents and forestall any further breakdown of law and order.
The command assured the public that those responsible would be brought to justice and urged anyone with credible and actionable information to report to the nearest police station or contact the command.
