The Ondo State political amazon and first female Secretary to Ondo State Government (SSG), Princess Barr. Catherine Oladunni Odu has described the commencement of both Muslim and Christian fast seasons as a divine coincidence which marks inter – faith unity in Nigeria.
Princess Odu in a statement she endorsed and made available to newsmen noted that the concurrence fast season will strengthen inter faith unity and cooperation among the adherents of the two major religions in Nigeria.
Princess Odu, it will be recalled, has indicated interest in running for the Ondo South Senatorial seat which will be vacant after the occupier of the seat, Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim, now an Ambassadorial Designate is posted out by The Presidency on foreign mission.
While commenting on the uniqueness of the the 2026 fasting season among Christians and Muslim faithfuls, Princess Odu noted that there is need for both Christians and Muslims to see one another as believers who are worshipping one Almighty God.
She preached and pleaded for inter faith tolerance as this stands as index of maturity in the service and worship of God.
The political amazon said it amounts to religious ignorance for anyone to assume they can fight on God’s behalf, calling on those who have the tendency to be extreme with their religious tendency to use this period of sacrificial fasting to think deeply on the need to understand God as the supreme being who does not need anybody to fight for him.
Princess Odu maintained that the fasting period calls for very deep reflection about the words of God with the need to act out the spirit and letters of God’s injunction as stipulated both in the Bible and Holy Quran, stressing that should be worshippers in truth and indeed.
The Ondo State APC strong woman also called on religious leaders to use the special season to propagate penitence, religious tolerance and the need to consolidate on their faith in God, adding that this is not the period to ignite the embers of disaffection between the two religions either as Muslim Ullama or Christian preacher.
While congratulating both Christians and Muslims as the fasting periods begin, she charged all to love God and show more love for humanity.
