All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart from Ondo South, Prof. Adedayo Faduyile, OON, has congratulated both Christian and Muslim faithfuls all over Nigeria as their Lengthen and Ramadan fasting seasons commenced.
It would be recalled that after the sighting of the moon, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar has declared the commencement of the 2026 Ramadan season.
In the same rare coincidence, Christians all over the world today observe Ash Wednesday, the holy Wednesday preceding the 40- day Lenten period.
In his reaction to this concurrent period of fasting by Muslims and Christians, Prof. Faduyile said good things happen to praying nation, adding that the fact that Nigerians across the major religions will be praying for 70 days non stop is a very edifying development that would draw Nigerians closer to God.
He said Nigeria needs prayer at this auspicious time and like the Bible says, ‘ the prayer of the faithful avails much.
Prof. Faduyile called on both Christians and Muslims to pray for the success of the administration of President Bola Tinubu, whom God has established to oversee the affairs of the nation, stressing that the Bible and Quran admonished Christians and Muslim faithfuls to always pray for the leaders.
The Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine noted that medically speaking, fasting is good for the body as it allows the renewal of energy and enhances resilience, while at the same time, it draws the adherents closer to God.
