Troops neutralise scores of terrorists, recover arms, ammunition in North-East

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified offensive operations across the North-East theatre under Operation DESERT SANITY V, recording fresh successes against insurgents.

In Sector 2, soldiers of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, working in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), neutralised scores of terrorists during a night raid on Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages.

Recovered during the operation were two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles and several mobile phones.

Military sources disclosed that further exploitation along the insurgents’ withdrawal route uncovered drag marks and a shallow grave, suggesting additional casualties among the fleeing fighters.

In a related development, troops of Sector 1 engaged suspected terrorists attempting to cross the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis along a major supply route.

The insurgents reportedly fled under heavy fire, abandoning two sacks containing assorted logistics items believed to be supplies for terrorist elements.

Despite the fluid nature of security operations in the theatre, the military described the general situation as calm but unpredictable.

Troops were said to be maintaining high morale and operational efficiency, continuing to dominate their areas of responsibility while disrupting insurgent activities.

The Headquarters OPHK reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) until lasting peace and economic stability are restored to the North-East region.
