The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a quack parading himself as a certified doctor and allegedly running an unauthorised medical facility in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
The suspect, Idris Nasiru, a 25 year-old was arrested on Jan. 14 following a targeted intelligence operation conducted by the command’s surveillance unit.
During the operation, officers searched the premises said to be used as a clinic and recovered injection needles, drips, bandages and other medical equipment.
A further search of the suspect’s residence, carried out with a valid warrant, led to the discovery of used syringes, needles and empty injection containers.
Police findings indicated that the suspect is not licensed to practise medicine, raising concerns that the facility was operating outside the law.
Commenting on the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, said the action reflected the command’s resolve to dismantle illegal medical activities through intelligence-led policing.
He reassured residents of Ondo State of the police’s determination to safeguard lives and property, while advising the public to be cautious when seeking medical services and to report suspicious facilities.
