The Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Ondo State, has commended two students for emerging winners of the Prof. Hafiz Abubakar Inter-University Quiz Competition for Food and Science Technology (FST).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the students, Omotola Ibukun (500-level) and Benjamin Boluwatife (400-level), FST Department of the institution, emerged winners in the contest involving about 40 institutions across the country.
OAUSTECH’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, on Friday in Okitipup, described the feat as heartwarming, and congratulated the students for their ingenuity, determination, brilliant performance and hard work.
He also commended the departments and school leadership for a job well done.
“The achievement stands as a testament to the quality of teaching and mentorship provided by the department.
“Älso, it further reinforces the institution’s commitment to producing competent and innovative 21st-century graduates,” Ologunorisa said.
The Dean, School of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, OAUSTECH, Prof. Orimoloye Ipoola-Faleyimu, also congratulated the students on the achievement.
According to him, this is a reflection of the department’s commitment to academic excellence and unwavering dedication of its lecturers.
Also, the Coordinator, FST Department, Dr Clement Ogidi, commended the students for their outstanding performance and demonstration of exceptional intellectual prowess.
“The department is very delighted that you applied knowledge and skills you acquired in the classroom, to excel and defeat your counterparts from other universities in Nigeria.” Ogidi said.
NAN reports that the competition, which held from Oct. 19 to 24 at the University of Ilorin, Kwara, was part of the 49th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST).
The contest, according to the organisers, was designed to test the intellectual creativity and scientific depth of FST students across Nigeria in an effort to position them for a fulfilling future.
The conference had as its theme “Empowering The Future: Gen Z Driven Sustainable Food Innovation and Futuristic Approach for Economic, Social, and National Advancement”. (NAN)
