Aiyedatiwa presents brand new SUV’s to traditional rulers in Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa has presented brand-new vehicles to traditional rulers across the state, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to the welfare and roles of the traditional institution in grassroots governance.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Ondo State Council of Obas Secretariat in Akure, marked a significant milestone in the governor’s efforts to strengthen peace and development at the community level.

Aiyedatiwa described the gesture as a “fulfillment of promise” to uplift the traditional institution.

“All Grade ‘A’ Obas in the state will receive Toyota Fortuner Jeeps, 2025 models, while Grade ‘B’ and ‘C’ Obas will soon get Toyota Cross Jeeps, 2025 models,” he announced.

The governor emphasized that the vehicles symbolize dignity, honor, and respect for the royal fathers who have remained steadfast in ensuring peace and security within their domains.

The governor noted that his administration had completed the long-abandoned Secretariat for the Council of Obas and ensured the consistent payment of the statutory 5 percent allocation from local government funds to traditional institutions.

“This gesture is a mark of appreciation for their invaluable service and commitment to grassroots peacebuilding,” he added.

The Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas and Olowo of Owo, Oba (Dr) Ajibade Ogunoye III, praised the governor for keeping his word, describing the move as a clear demonstration of respect and partnership between the state and the traditional institution.

“This administration has shown uncommon regard for the traditional institution,” the monarch said. “These vehicles will enhance our mobility and efficiency in serving our communities.”

The event drew top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa; and NDDC Executive Director of Corporate Services, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde, among others.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, and the Chairman of Akure South Local Government and Ondo State ALGON, Dr. Gbenga Fasua also attended the ceremony, commending the governor’s inclusive leadership style and commitment to grassroots development.
