Ondo Petition Tribunal: Agboola Ajayi drops charges against Aiyedatiwa

Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate in the November 16, 2024 election in Ondo State, has withdrawn his petition against the victory of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress.

Ajayi’s withdrawal is contained in a letter dated September 16, addressed to the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court.

It would be recalled that Ajayi and his party had earlier approached the Election Petition Tribunal to challenge the victory of Aiyedatiwa.

The PDP candidate explained that his decision to withdraw the petition was after a “thoughtful discussions with family, party members, associates, and legal advisers.”

Moving forward, Ajayi extended his heartfelt wishes to Aiyedatiwa and pledged to continue working towards the development of the state.

Aiyedatiwa won the election with 366,781 votes, defeating a former deputy governor, Ajayi of the PDP, who pulled 117, 845 votes to come second.

The governor clinched victory in all 18 local government areas of the state.
