Nigeria’s national power grid collapsed again on Wednesday, causing a sharp drop in electricity supply across the country.
Reports indicated that generation fell from 2,917.83 megawatts to as low as 1.5MW between 11:00 am and 12 noon, plunging many areas into darkness.
Shortly after the incident, the Nigeria National Grid, an X handle that provides real-time updates on power distribution, announced that “System restoration is in progress.”
As at press time, electricity distribution companies (DisCos) were yet to issue any official statement on the development.
