The Vice-Chancellor of Covenant University, Ota, Prof Timothy Anake, has urged youths to embrace passion, purpose and persistence in pursuing careers that impact lives meaningfully.
Anake gave the advice on Saturday during the Graduation and Prize-Giving Ceremony for outgoing students of Adedokun International Schools at Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, Ogun.
Represented by Dr Olasunmbo Agboola of the Mathematics Department, he said every meaningful career begins with passion, which must be developed into a usable skill.
He explained that passion alone was not enough; a clear purpose was also needed to achieve desirable career goals and live an impactful life.
“There must be strong passion for any career they choose. Success without purpose is empty, as only purpose makes every step meaningful.
“In addition, persistence will help them overcome the challenges they may encounter along the way,” Anake said.
He advised the graduands to learn from past mistakes and strive to live purposeful, colourful and impactful lives.
Speaking at the event, Alhaja Romoke Adedokun, Proprietress of the school, urged them to uphold integrity, responsibility and godliness in an uncertain world.
She noted that the graduating set had made the school proud through their excellent performance in the recent JAMB examination.
“Our students keep emerging as top performers regionally and nationally. These victories are not just trophies on shelves,” she said.
In his welcome address, Dr Mike Fatukasi, Principal of the school, said the students had been equipped with skills for their future journey.
Fatukasi encouraged them to explore passions and grow into thoughtful, innovative and compassionate individuals ready to make a positive difference.92 students graduated from the school for the 2024/2025 academic session. (NAN)
