An educationist Alhaja Romoke Adedokun the Proprietress of Adedokun International Schools, Dalemo, Ogun, has advised the youth to shun negative influences that may distract them from their academic pursuits and remain focus.
Adedokun gave the advice during the school’s 2025 Graduation Ceremony and Prize Giving Day on Friday at Iyana-Iyesi, Ota.
According to her, negative influences on youths can have far-reaching and detrimental effects on their lives such as peer pressure, behavioral problems and academic underachievement.
“Negative influences on our youths can expose them to violence, crime, or other forms of trauma which may deter them from actualising their future goals.”she said.
Adedokun urged parents to intensify efforts toward giving sound and impactful education to their children to make them better citizens in future.
She reiterated the school’s commitment to continue to raise the bar of quality education by creating enabling environment for students to excel.
The proprietress said that the school had consistently pursued excellence in academics and character development over the past 16 years which had resulted in some of the recent remarkable achievements.
She highlighted some of the achievements to include: Mathematics Face-Off Competition, where the school came 1st position in the South-Western Nigeria (Higher Primary and Senior Secondary).
She added that the school also came 2nd position in Sigma Competition in Ogun State.
Adedokun congratulated the students and urged them to remain focus and discipline, adding that the world of opportunities awaits them.
Dr Sunday Longe, a guest speaker, stressed the need for parents to instill moral values and invest in their children’s education.
