Mr Andrew Ogunsakin, Executive Chairman, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to staff welfare and improved working conditions.
Ogunsakin reaffirmed his commitment during a crucial meeting held on Thursday with the staff of the local government at the secretariat in Okitiipupa.
“A labourer is entitled to his wages” and all employees are assured of my unwavering support.
“All staff should be sincere in their service, because a lot needs to be done, and honesty must be prioritised.
“I can assure you all of maximum cooperation from my office and I promise not to let you down, especially on your welfare and improved working conditions.
“This meeting is a good beginning and I pledge that our administration will work tirelessly to fulfill our responsibilities,” he said.
The chairman also stressed the importance of punctuality in governance and service delivery.
According to him, punctuality is the soul of business, so staff are to adhere strictly to time-consciousness in their daily duties.
“Furthermore, as part of efforts to improve the working environment, I assure you that a lodge will be provided for management staff.
“Electricity will be restored back to the secretariat within a month to enhance workers efficiency and productivity,” he said.
Ogunsakin, however, said that the meeting would continue once a month as a way of discussing pressing issues with staff, which would set the tone for a more efficient, transparent and people-oriented leadership.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ogunsakin assumed office on Feb. 26 after Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa swore-in all 18 newly-elected local government chairmen on Feb. 17. (NAN)
