Following the assent of President Bola Tinubu to bills establishing Regional Development Commissions in the country, Senate has appointed chairmen and deputy chairmen of standing committees to oversee the commissions.
Those appointed as announced by Sen. Godswill Obot Akpabio, Senate President are: Sen. Babangida Hussaini and Muntari Dandutse as Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively for Senate Committee on North-West Development Commission;
Also Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu and Sen. Kenneth Eze are Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively for the Senate Committee on
South-East Development Commission;
Also, Sen Titus Zam Tartenger and Sen. Isa Jibrin are the Chairman and Deputy Chairman for Senate Committee on North-Central Development Commission
Moreso, the Senate has also reshuffled the leadership of some standing committees.
Sen. Abdul Ningi moved from Population to head the Senate committee on FERMA while Sen. Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan is the Chairman on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisation, she previously heads the committee on Local Content.
Also appointed is Sen. Garba Maidoki as Chairman Senate Committee on Sports development, Sen. Joel Thomas is the new Chairman Senate Committee on Local Content, while Sen. Victor Umeh is now the Chairman Senate Committee on National Population and NIMC having been moved from the Senate Committee on Diaspora.
