Prince Okunjimi Odimayo, a lawmaker in the House of Representatives, has extolled the legacy of Ondo State’s founding fathers, as the state celebrates it’s 49th anniversary
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the state was created on Feb.3, 1976 from the South-West, under the military administration of late Gen. Muritala Mohammed.
Odimayo, member representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Okitipupa through his media aide, Mr Victor Adedeji.
The lawmaker, who felicitated with Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State and the people, commended the governor’s inclusive leadership and unwavering commitment to the state’s progress.
He acknowledged the developmental strides achieved under Aiyedatiwa’s administration, emphasising the need for collective efforts to build a more prosperous future.
According to him, Ondo State remains a force in Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape, standing tall in education, agriculture, and industrial growth.
“Since its creation, it remained a centre of excellence, producing distinguished leaders, intellectuals, and entrepreneurs who have significantly contributed to national development.
“As we celebrate 49 years of statehood, we must honour the vision of our founding fathers and rededicate ourselves to the development of our dear state,” Odimayo said.
The lawmaker, who reflected on the journey so far, urged indigenes to uphold the spirit of unity and hard work that defined the state’s legacy.
He urged the people of the state to remain steadfast in their support for Aiyedatiwa’s administration, assuring them of brighter days ahead.
Odimayo, however, expressed optimism that the state would continue to “shine as a beacon of progress and unity as the state approaches its golden jubilee”. (NAN)
