The new Speaker of the Lagos State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda has officially moved into the office of the Speaker on Monday amidst tight security
She had been operating from the Office of the Deputy Speaker since Jan. 13 when she was elected to take over from the former Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
Meranda, who is the first female Speaker of the House, was accompanied by the principal members and other lawmakers.
Later, Meranda and thirty-four other lawmakers posed for a photograph in front of the mace sculpture in the quadrangle of the Assembly.
Security has also been beefed up at the Assembly following last Saturday’s news conference by the former Speaker, Obasa that his removal did not follow due process and that he would resume today as Speaker.
