Mrs Kikelomo Adeniyi, National President of Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA), has advised members and women in general to improve on capacity building to achieve sustainable national development.
Adeniyi gave the advice during her visit to Customs Ogun Area 1 Command, Idiroko on Friday.
“We must continuously seek ways to improve ourselves, especially through capacity building.
“I want to implore members in Ogun 1 Area Command and Nigerian women to embrace this because capacity building equips women with the knowledge, skills and confidence to support our families better and communities.
“In a developing country like Nigeria, empowering women through education, training and skills development is not just beneficial but it is essential,” she said.
Adeniyi said that women who invested in their personal development could better navigate the complexties of modern life and support their children’s education.
She added that they could even explore opportunities for entrepreneurship and financial independence.
The COWA President reiterated the commitment of the association to continue to support the widows of fallen heroes.
Adeniyi applauded the Area Comptroller, Ogun 1 Command, Mr James Ojo, for his immense support to COWA.
Mrs Folu-Ojo Adenike, Chairperson, COWA Ogun I Chapter, commended the national president for her unwavering commitment to the well-being of Customs officers’ families.
Adenike said that her efforts had touched every corner of the nation, especially to the wives, children and orphans of both serving and fallen officers.
In his response, the Area Comptroller, commended the COWA President for taking time out to visit them at the border area.
Ojo reiterated his commitment to supporting COWA toward achieving the mission of the association.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 50 widows of Customs officers were given bags of rice by COWA.
Also, scholarships, cash awards and exercise books were given to best students of Nigeria Customs Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools. (NAN)
