A private jet, with registration number N580KR, missed the runway and skidded into the nearby bush on Friday at Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan, Oyo State capital
The jet reportedly had 10 very important persons (VIPs) onboard.
The incident comes a few months after a private jet crashlanded at the same location..
Confirming the incident, Carol Adekotujo, spokesperson for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), said the incident happened around 11:00 am.
“Yes, it was a private plane from Abuja. It landed safely but overshot the runway. There was no casualty,” Adekotujo said.
“The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) are on their way to Ibadan to confirm what happened and give us a report of what happened.”
The jet, operated by Flint Aero, departed Abuja and crash-landed just before the runway at the airport in Ibadan.
Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, was reportedly among the 10 people onboard.
The NSIB had said there were no deaths recorded but added that the aircraft was substantially damaged after it came to a stop inside the bush surrounding the runway.
