Prince Okunjimi Odimayo, Member, representing Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has donated N5 million to train the best secondary school girls selected from his constituency at the BEMORE camp in Akure.
This is contained in a statement he signed and made available to newsmen on Monday in Okitipupa, Ondo State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that BEMORE is a pet project of Mrs Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, the wife of the Ondo State governor,
BEMORE is to train girls in solar energy technology, ICT and other pivotal life-enhancing apprenticeship in order to bring out their potential.
Odimayo said that the gesture to train the selected girls remained imperative to ensure that girl children fully utilised their potential for a sustainable future.
According to him, providing equal training opportunities to female students promotes gender equality by ensuring that all individuals have the chance to develop their skills and talents regardless of their gender.
“Training female students is crucial for creating a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable society, while also unlocking their potential to contribute significantly to various fields and sectors in the state and Nigeria at large.
“In a bid to further to develop the potential of the younger generation, I have donated N5 million for the training of the best secondary school girls from Irele/Okitipupa at the BEMORE camp,” Odimayo said.
Odimayo, Chairman, House Committee on National Pollution Commission (NPC), reiterated his commitment to contribute significantly to the training of the younger generations across his constituency, the state and Nigeria at large.
The philanthropist, however, commended Mrs Anyanwu-Akeredolu, for providing a platform for developing girl children and women.
He also said that her humanitarian gesture had the potential to create a brighter future for individuals, families, communities, and the country as a whole.
Odimayo also assured Anyanwu-Akeredolu of his unwavering support for all the programmes anchored by BEMORE.
