Police officer raises alarm over threat to life for investigating fraud case

CSP Kayode Oyetunji Head of General Investigation Unit of the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) Ondo State Command has cried out over threat to his his life and that of his family for investigating a case of fraud involving a huge amount of money to the tune of millions.

Oyetunji, made this known in a statement he made available to newsmen on Sept. 10 in Akure

The officer stated that on June, 3, 2022, he was assigned to investigate the case and since that day, pressure has been mounting on him to circumvent the law on the case due to the status of the defendant in the case.

He added that he stood his ground and investigated the case properly till the case was finally charged to court.

According to him, in the course of this, the suspect have been threatening me with phone calls and all sort of proxy threats.

“When I close from work one particular evening, I was trailed to my house by unknown gunmen driving behind me and as I was about coming out of my car, they open fire on me, but fortunately, I escaped by whiskers’’

‘’On Sept. 2, 2022, I came back from work and I met my house burnt down and the perpetrators of this dastardly act are still unknown,” he said.

Oyetunji stated that, the continuous persecution and general attempt to get rid of him had brought psychological and emotional trauma to him and his family members and as a result of that, he has relocated his family to his hometown since they have no house to stay again.

He, however, appealed to the authorities in the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Federal Government to Intervene in the case to prevent him from being killed by miscreant who are after his life and that of his family.
