Dr. Jimoh Ibrahim CFR, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ondo South senatorial district in 2023 general election has called for peace over obaship tussle bedvilling Igodan Lisa community in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.
It would be recalled that Igodan Lisa has been encountering tumoil some few weeks ago over claimant to the stool of Olu of Igodan Lisa which did not go well with the desire of the community’s Ijamas (kingmakers) which has threatened peace in the town.
Ibrahim, who visited the community on Tuesday was given a rousing welcome by the high chiefs, leaders, youths and residents of the community, saying his presence would douse the tension in the town.
Ibrahim, the Araba of Ikaleland said as an Ikale son, who was passionate about peace, which engender economic and political development would not fold his arms and watch a peaceful community slide into crisis over of Obaship tussle.
He corroborated one of the high chiefs, Zacchaeus Aiyeobasan view point, noting that the community is bigger than any individual.
According to him, the communal theory for peace and tranquility is the fact that all individuals have to bow to the collective resolve of the people who make up a community.
“There is need for peace not just in Igodan Lisa but the entire Ondo South and Ondo State at large.
“I appeal to all the princes to allow the community’s high chiefs to, according to tradition decide who the next monarch of the town is.
“And kingmakers must carry the state government along in the selection process as taking laws into their hands will not be tolerated by the state government,” he said.
Ibrahim also assured the community leaders and residents that all the necessary steps towards resolving the Obaship tussle would be taken.
He, however, thanked the good people of Igodan Lisa for giving him a rousing reception saying that people of the community are peace loving and they had extended their support to him in the town ahead of time.
The business mogul, noted that he was quite more at home in their midst, adding that they are the people he can count on their support at any time especially in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
Earlier, while welcoming Ibrahim, high chief Aiyeobasan, the Lisa of Igodan Lisa had narrated the challenge the people of the town had faced in the hand of one of the Princes laying claim to the Olu of Igodan stool.
