Mr Abayomi Adesanya, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has predicted that the party would win convincingly at the forthcoming 2023 presidential election against all odds.
Adesanya, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Okitipupa, said that the APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu was a respected, tested and trusted politician who had the political will to change the narratives of the country for the better.
Adesanya, a former spokesman of the party in the state, stressed that the choice of Kashim Shetima as Tinubu’s running mate was a political calculation based on several consultations and political analysis before the final choice.
He said that Tinubu and Shetima were both tested and trusted hands in Lagos and Borno state as governors who had turned their states around for the better with visible evidences.
Adesanya, also the former Caretaker Chairman, Okitupupa LGA added that what was important was to hand over the country to successful technocrats who could turn the resources and fortunes of the country around for the better.
He noted that people canvassing against Tinubu and Shetima, who were dwelling on religion, “were the opposition who are afraid of impending defeat by the APC which has the best political structures and large folliwership in the country presently”.
According to him, I am a Christian but the tribe or religion of the president or vice-president of Nigeria is irrelevant to me, what I want is a better and prosperous country that will be respected all over the world.
“Nobel laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka is respected globally, I learnt he is neither a Christian nor Muslim.
“Tinubu married a Christian Pastor, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, his wife for over 40 years now. Infact, they are a perfect example of religious tolerance.
“Our Super Eagles and Falcons players were selected not based on their religion or tribe, but best among their peers and when they play with other countries, we support them with the spirit of one Nigeria.
“In my political calculations and statistical analysis, the election results may be a bit higher than the 1993 presidential elections allegedly won by late MKO Abiola and Babagana Kingibe.
“APC will win convincingly in the South-West, North-East, North-West and North-Central respectively, but will perform fairly in the South-South, however, the South-East has always been a dead zone for APC.
“So, if all these permutations and statistical analysis are right, and APC wins the majority in at least four geographical zones out of six, then it will be a landslide victory,” Adesanya said. (NAN)
