Sen. Nicholas Tofowomo, representing Ondo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has urged Nigerians to vote a credible, versatile and dynamic candidate for President in the 2023 general elections.
He said such candidate must be well grounded educationally, politically, socially, and economically in order to tackle the myriad of challenges facing the country and make it a force to reckon with globally.
Tofowomo, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, gave this advice while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone on his 62nd birthday anniversary on Friday.
He said that Nigeria remained a developing country because previous leaders were unable to harness the potentials and God-given resources of the country for its development as a super power.
“Nigeria still ranked as developing country because our leaders have not harnessed the great potentials and God-given resources properly for Nigeria to be among the developed nation.
“By now, Nigeria is supposed to be thinking of how to use nuclear power to generate electricity for everyone to have uninterrupted electricity that will create more employment and make our economy thrive.
“My birthday wish is for Nigerians to vote a digital president who is well grounded educationally, politically, socially and economically to lead Nigeria out of the doldrums.
“Of course, I am a PDP member and I believe our party is searching for someone who has all these criteria for Nigeria to take its rightful place in among the developed nation in the world,” Tofowomo said.
While speaking on his life, the senator said his saddest moment was when he lost his father over 20 years ago and the happiest was when he gained admission to the university in 1980.
He gave thanks to Almighty God for sparing his life till the present moment, adding that he was so happy to celebrate his 62nd birthday with great joy.
NAN recalls that Tofowomo, who is still on crushes, narrowly escaped death when he and three other PDP chieftains were involved in a ghastly motor accident on Sept. 6, 2019, on the Igbara Oke-Akure road in Ondo State shortly after his election as a senator. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
