Alhaji Kamaldeen Adeyemi-Bagudu, the Chief Imam of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State has urged Nigerians to exhibit love and religious tolerance among themselves.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Okitipupa on the occasion of the Eld-el-Maulud celebration – birth of Prophet Muhammad, that lack of love and religious tolerance could endanger peace in the country.
The Chief Imam added that inability of Nigerians to shun all forms of religious, ethnic, political and social discrimination was responsible for disunity among Nigerians.
According to him, the teaching of Prophet Muhammmad is love, religious tolerance which will bring about peace among all wherever we find ourselves.
“If Muslims see their Christian counterparts as brothers and sisters, this will engender unity and peace which will have positive effect on vast development of the country.
“Our God is one, we must see it that way and Nigerians must see ourselves as children of one father and mother for us to move forward,” Adeyemi-Bagudu said.
He, however, urged Nigerians not to relent in prayers for Nigeria and all her leaders in order to bring about more dividends of democracy which would be beneficial to all. (NAN)
