An Ondo State monarch, Oba Israel Adeusi, the Oluifon of Ifon was on Thursday shot dead by unknown gunmen along Elegbeka area, five minutes drive to Owo town.
The traditional ruler was reportedly shot by gunmen suspected to be bandits while he was returning to his dormain from the Council of Obas meeting in Akure.
The traditional ruler was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo where he was confirmed dead due to gunshots injuries.
Annonymous source at the FMC confirmed that the monarch was brought in dead and his remains has been deposited at the hospitals mogue.
Meanwhile, efforts to speak to ASP Tee Leo-Ikoro, the Police Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command over the incident proved abortive as calls to his mobile phone were not going through as at the time of filling this report.
