A 50-year-old carpenter, Samuel Osho on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly stealing planks worth N1.2 million.
The defendant, whose address is not given, is facing a two-count charge bordering on felony and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi told the court that the defendant and one other still at large, on May 17, around 4p.m at University of Fortune, Igbotako in Okitipupa Magisterial district, conspired to commit felony.
He said that the defendant and the other one at large stole the planks, property of one Paul Otekaye.
The prosecutor said that the defendant committed offences contrary to and punishable under Sections 516 and 390(9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Musa Al-Yunus, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N2m and a surety in like sum with evidence of a year tax clearance from the state government.
He said that the surety must have a property within the Okitipupa magisterial district.
The case has been adjourned until July 10, for further hearing. (NAN)
