A Lagos-based business mogul, Chief Sehindemi Fadeni, on Monday, empowered 150 widows in Okitipupa Local Government area of Ondo State with N750,000.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the widows, who were selected from Ode-Aye, Okitipupa and Igbodigo in Okitipupa council area, received N5,000 each.
Fadeni, an indigene of Ode-Aye, who empowered the widows under the aegis of Chris-Alice Foundation, told NAN that the gesture was not politically motivated, but due to his commitment to helping the needy.
He said that the programme, which he started during the coronavirus lockdown, would be sustained to ensure more that people were captured.
“No fewer than 150 widows were selected to benefit from the empowerment. It is not politically-motivated; it is just a demonstration of my commitment to helping the needy, especially the widows.
“Chris-Alice Foundation is named after my father and mother to help the widows; we have been empowering the widows in Lagos but I just decided to do the same in my town and other areas within my local government,” Fadeni said.
Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke with NAN, applauded the foundation for the gesture, praying to God to continue to help the founder.
Mrs Taiwo Akintade and Mrs Grace Aladetan, both beneficiaries, thanked Fadeni and prayed God to bless his foundation so that it would continue to impact positively on the lives of the needy. (NAN)
