Sen. Nicholas Tofowomo, representing Ondo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, has urged Muslim faithful across the country to remember the poor as they celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr.
Tofowomo in a statement signed by his Media aide, Mr Olumide Akinrinlola in Okitipupa on Sunday, described Eid-el-Fitr as a time to present gifts to loved ones after the fasting period.
He said that this year’s celebration coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic which had resulted into unprecedented economic hardship for the masses.
“Eid-el-Fitr is a festival after the long fasting and prayers; a festival of love when gifts are shared among loved ones to celebrate the answers to their prayers.
“This year’s celebration coincided with COVID-19 which have caused economic hardship for the masses. Muslim faithful should remember the poor and assist them with gifts to cushion the effect of the pandemic,” Tofowomo said.
While wishing Muslim faithful happy celebrations, he, however, urged them to abide by all government precautionary measures against the spread of COVID-19 for them to stay safe and live. (NAN)
