Ondo LG boss offsets stranded patient medical bill

Omo’oba Abayomi Adesanya, the Caretaker Chairman, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo has offset the medical bill of Veronica Akinsuroju, a stranded patient in the State’s Specialist Hospital, Okitipupa.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the council boss made this pledge when he visited his aged mother, Mrs Alice Adesanya who was also admitted in the hospital.

Adesanya who also moved round the wards of the hospital during the visit, promised to be checking on Akinsuroju until she fully recovers and is discharged from the hospital.

“I am here to check on my mother and heard about the woman who was admitted here but cannot pay her bills because she is stranded, I think we need to be humans and be our brothers’ keeper.

“I have told the doctors to treat her, give her all the necessary drugs and I will offsets the bill and will be checking her regularly until she is discharged,” he said.

Mrs. Akinsuroju, the patient who was brought to the emergency ward over an undisclosed ailment said she has been receiving treatment after the chairman’s pledge.

The patient said she is excited on the kind gesture of the LG boss who had affected her life positively.

“I am so happy for the gesture of the Chairman, May God be with him and support him in his entire endeavor, I urge others too to emulate him,” she said.

Dr Gbenga Sunmola, one of the medical experts at the emergency ward who said the ailments of the patient was confidential also said that they would carry out the LG boss’ instruction and that the patient would be given proper attention. (NAN)
