The Ondo State government has began a three-day screening of its workforce in order to ascertain the number of those still in service and those retired.
Newspread247 reports that a large number of local government staff members, teachers and pensioners were present at the Okitipupa Local Government secretariat for the screening which began on Tuesday.
Mr Temiyemi Akinmolayan, the Chairman, National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Okitipupa Chapter said that the screening exercise was a good idea.
Akinmolayan said that the government needed to ascertain population of its workforce in order to have the correct figures for payment of salaries, pensions and other welfare packages.
“The screening exercise is the first of its kind and it is a welcome idea because government needs to know the number of its workers in order to prepare for them.
“I urge all workers in our council to turn up for this exercise for them to enjoy the benefits of their work,” he said.
