The University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State, is stepping into the limelight as one of Nigeria’s most promising private institutions, following a series of high-profile familiarization visits to Abuja. Led by its proprietor, Sen. imoh Ibrahim, CFR, he delegation included the Acting Vice Chancellor, the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, and the institution’s Bursar.
The team was first received by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, who commended the bold vision behind the university.
The delegation then met with the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and later the Registrar of JAMB, underscoring the institution’s readiness to align with national standards and global best practices.
Sen. Ibrahim described the University of Fortune as a purpose-built citadel of learning designed to rival Cambridge, Harvard, and Oxford, stressing that Nigerian parents no longer need to “cross seven rivers” or “go to the ends of the earth” to secure world-class education for their children.
“Why cross the ocean when the treasure lies at your doorstep?” he asked, invoking the proverb that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush.
The National University Commission.(NUC) has officially approved 17 undergraduate programmes across four faculties for the 2025/2026 academic session, with an initial quota of 800 students.
The programmes include cutting-edge courses in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Nursing Science, Law, International Relations, Criminology, and Project Management and with such breadth, the University of Fortune is poised to hit the ground running and raise the bar for private universities nationwide.
The institution which sits on a vast expanse of land in Igbotako, Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, boasting outstanding architectural aesthetics, modern learning facilities, and international-standard amenities.
